To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Run DMC’s killer sneaker anthem ‘My Adidas’, the three stripes brand have released a special commemorative Superstar 80s. The incredible rap jam marked the first time a group consciously sought out sneaker sponsorship, resulting in an unprecedented marriage that would see both brands flourish with fortune and fame. Paving the way for musicians and artists, Run DMC led the pack and in return adidas now pay tribute to their long lasting partnership. Featuring premium buttery leather uppers, 3M black stripes and heel tabs which pay tribute to DJ legend Jam Master Jay, the Superstar 80s also come complete with 1986 ankle signatures and dookie chain lace jewels. Finished off with three sets of laces (even though we all know Run DMC would never lace their shelltoes, EVER!) Sesame Street’s superstar puppeteer, Kermit the Frog just landed on the three stripes zone with a very attractive fusion. Kermit the Frog is known to be the protagonist of many Muppet projects, most notably as the host of The Muppet Show. Kermit appears to be a lizard-like creature but technically a frog whose color is green with red mouth. His collar was added to make him seem more froglike and to conceal the seam between his head and body.
Today, Kermit inspires the adidas Superstar with his lavishing green color on the shoe’s wool upper. It has textured green lace panels that serve as accent along with tonal shoe laces. The patented Superstar rubber toe box makes a neat appearance while the three stripes logo is done up in white leather with gold foxing. Branding such as the adidas on the tongue and ‘The Original HipHop’ label both appear in gold. Finally, the white midsole has a flashy contrast stitching that teams up with Kermit’s collar.

Disney x adidas Superstar “Mickey X Family”

While collaborations usually consist of 2 companies committed and known for the footwear and lifestyle culture, adidas Originals took a different approach to this team-up with Disney.
Like the Disney x adidas Originals adiRise mid, The Disney x adidas Superstar shares the same colorway and design cues. This family of kicks each feature something unique in various sizes. The adult sized Superstar features tonal black paten leather uppers with a Mickey Mouse inspired “all-over” pattern with “Angry Mickey” embossed on the tongue with red insole accents. The GS sizes feature red and black uppers, and topped off with Mickey’s famous four-finger glove on each side of the shoe.

adidas Superstar II x Kermit The Frog

It looks like Kermit the frog is finally getting the recognition he deserves in the form of a pair of Superstar II’s from adidas. Much like its inspiration the shoe features a bright green suede upper with matching green leather pipping and laces. White plays the role of accent covering the midsole, three stripes toe and ankle, while a lighter green appears in the form of midsole stitching, outsole, adidas branding on the ankle and of course along the tongue where the Kermit cues hold true.

When it comes to casual footwear, the three stripes brand is never left behind. Aside from being one of the premiers in basketball, today it’s one of the best performers that excels in different sports. But tell you what, adidas is also prone to being modified, in Nike it is termed ‘bespoked’, and a recent interpretation is now unleashed.
Made to fuse this season’s bright and sunny days is the adidas Superstar H-Town Summit Sneaker which was custom-designed by RJ via RJCustoms. This Superstar is presented in a colorway that copies the color scheme seen on the H-Town Sneaker Summit Summer 2011 flyer. The flyer background is a basic blue that blends with the sky with text that appear in gradient pink and purple, white, and blue. RJ then incorporated the basic tones onto this Superstar to create a piece truly inspired by the season.
Essentially, this adidas Superstar possesses a blue sky upper with gradient pink and purple three stripes logo sideways and trefoil logo on the heel tab, white “H” text for H-Town and start along the heel, plus a Summit label along the toe area. The white toe cap displays a unique detailed design and a pink stitching along the forefoot.
